Great turn out and results for the FreeWheeler Teams in a very well run MVC Race for Alex.
MVC split the masters in three groups and George and I were in the 50+ field with 9 very good riders, we never came close to dropping anyone even when the rain started pounding us. Most of the attacks ceased after the second lap and the race became a old guys ride and a sprint at the end.
Old guys don't have a lot of speed so I went to second wheel just before the last turn. I looked and saw George on my wheel, and my thinking was go slow and early and make them come around, well three of them did. I finished 5th with George by my side.
My plan was to attack at the top of the hill before the second to last turn, but I couldn't get out of the gutter when the field slowed.
I'll do this race next year and maybe get it right.
