2006 Point Series

March to October by Denis Osowski

Hello Freewheelers!

Now that the racing season in upon us, indeed some have already "got some" this year, George has generously offered to resurrect the points series for 2006!

We will be doing it a little different from what many of you will remember from 2004 in an effort to make George's life a little easier from when he had to deal with the on-line points entry system. I won't go into details but it was a huge workload for George to manage the information coming in. This year we will have each rider keep their results and points tabulated in a spreadsheet.

It should be pretty simple (if you have Microsoft Excel) to keep a running tally of your races, placings, and points. The procedure goes like this:

  1. Download the attached Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
  2. Erase the example entries and start logging your own awesome results.
  3. Submit the sheet by the 30th of each month to George Liolios

The sheet will automatically keep a running tally of your points throughout the year. Your new total each month will be updated to the website by the 7th of the next month (e.g., points submitted by the 30th of March will show up on the website by April 7).

If anyone out there does not have Microsoft Excel, please email George Liolios or Denis Osowski and let them know. We will try to work out an alternative approach.

The points series competition will run from March 1 through October 1, 2006. Final point totals will be posted by October 7.

We will have an overall club competition based on overall points and will also break it out according to USCF category, Masters, Women, and Juniors.

Notes and clarifications:

The hard line disclaimer: We acknowledge that the way we are tabulating the points will not be completely, totally, and absolutely fair for every conceivable rider situation. That said, we do want to know if any blatant errors and terrible errors are found by anyone (judgment of blatant and terrible is reserved for George and Denis). While complete fairness is impossible, we do want to be correct.

Anyway, have fun with this. That's what it's for after all.

Ride on and see you at the races!

Best regards,
Denis Osowski
