Race report

8/9/04 by Allied Decals Cycling

This is a race update from the past two races (Blossom Crit., Zoar RR). This was one of the best weather and racing weekends of the season. The Blossom Crit was a well-run race put on by Chaos Cycling Team from Cleveland. They did a great job. The first race was the master 35 plus, Allied was represented by George, Denis, Jim G, and Glen. This race had a good and a bad out come. We had good teamwork and Denis won a Prime and got 4th place. The bad news was that Glen was in a Crash and was injured. The Pro 1,2,3 race was also a good race for the team. The team was Dennis, Jim G, Angelo and Shawn. This was a very fast race because of all the big guns the showed up. Lake Effect worked the field over and had 3 guys lapped the rest of us. Shawn won a field prime and was around the top 10. Angelo, Jim G and Denis hung tough and finished. The Zoar race was put on by Stark Velo, they put on a safe and fun race. The team for Zoar was Shawn, Angelo,George and Denis. We had some bad luck in the first 2 miles of the race when Denis punctured. This put Dennis out because unlike the Tour we didn't have a team car or neutral support for the wheel change. The action started right away, with Shawn getting in a move with Jim Baldesare. That didn't last and on the second climb a group of 4 extracted its self from the peleton. This was Ryan Rish, Mike House, Stephan Kadar and the legend Paul Martin. Needless to say that was the move to be in. In the end Paul destroyed the break and won alone. Jeremy Grimm won the field sprint, Jim Baldesare was 6th and Shawn was 7th. On a final note it is great that Denis is back to his old form or even stronger after what could have been the end of his racing last year.
