Racing season is here...at least on the days when the roads don't need a snow plow! Now that the winter that refused to die, seems to finally be paws up, it is time to update everyone one the racing season.
Rudy Project Races at the Lake: The four week series is April 17 through May 8th at Munroe Falls Park. We expect another great series. We are again having a series long points competition for the Masters and Cat 2/3 races for both individuals and teams. We have Rudy Project sunglasses and merchandise along with the normal payouts and awards. We changed the races slightly this year; the biggest change is the 1/2/3 race is now just a 2/3 category race. We are also doing something new: registration will be done on a computer rather than manually. Once we get all the registrations in, we expect to be much more efficient in registration and producing race results. Thanks to Dick Lott for a long tedious job of writing and testing the software for registration.
Other races: The racing season is suddenly in full gear!
I know many of us feel we are still trying to dig out from the snow and blow the cobwebs out of our legs, but the race season is here. Let's see some Freewheelers make a presence!
Uniforms: Most of the kits have been passed out and our new kits, with the matching helmets, look great! We are still waiting for the last few helmets to come in. There are two kits that were not claimed (or paid) which I will distribute soon—unfortunately there aren't going to be enough items to fill all the requests I received. Next year, be sure to get your orders in!
Training Rides: With the weather, park construction, and other factors, our ride/training schedules have been totally inconsistent. Still, we have had some excellent groups. The regular ride schedule will go back in effect this week. That is 6:00 pm on Tuesday/Thursday and 8:00 am Saturday/Sunday from Botzum Parking lot. (Don't expect many to be there when races are scheduled.) We hope to workout at Munroe Falls this week—but the construction may still be a problem.
Membership & Sponsor Deals: We have updated the membership list on the website. Please check to insure your info is correct. Soon, I will be sending a private email to everyone with details of some excellent deals we have this year with Rudy Project, Velo Apparel, Marty's Bike Shop, and other sponsors.
Forum: If you haven't checked out the forum linked to our website, give it a try. I think it is an excellent way to pass along comments on any topic relating to the club or your racing. It would be great to see lots of dialog there. All members are also encouraged to write-up any races or other subjects on our "news" page. The forum is a little less formal than the news page.
