Attending the second 2004 planning meeting on October 6, 2003 were: Tricia Ingraham, Becky Blice, Bob Iden, Jim Mullins, Shawn Adams, Catherine Scott, Chris Westover, George Liolios, Phil Esempio, Tom Collier, Doug Hale, and Ted Ingraham.
Officers/directors for the 2004 season were discussed and approved.
President: Ted Ingraham
Membership: Doug Hale
Sponsors: Chris Westover
Uniforms: Shawn Adams
Communications: Bob Iden (webmaster)
Points & Statistician: George Liolios
TOP: Tom Collier
Training: Jim Mullins
Treasurer: Joanne Liolios
RATL: Ted Ingraham/Dick Lott
Sponsors: Tom announced that Skyway will sponsor again next year at the same ($300) level. We hope to retain some of the other 2003 sponsors plus Chris Westover has a couple of strong leads for sponsors for 2004 and George is working on deals with a couple of merchandise sponsors (close to something with Rudy and Velomax). Ted hopes to be able to improve the relationship with Marty's and there are other prospects other members are perusing. We have an attractive sponsor brochure that can be sent to potential sponsors. Any member who might have a lead, please contact Ted or Chris.
Budget: The club has just over $4,000 in the till. This is at least a grand more than we had at this time last year. There was discussion on spending up to $1,500 to defer the cost of uniforms for all members in 2004. Further details will be worked out when the uniform order is prepared.
Uniforms: The uniform will be essentially the same. The sponsors' logos will be the only change for 2004. The ship date has been set with Voler, for March 8–12, 2004. Our order/deposit date with Voler is January 23, 2004. We hope to put out the uniform order by early to mid December, along with the membership renewal. We also are working with Marty's on a helmet deal and hope to put a helmet selection in with the uniform kit.
Banquet: George Liolios agreed (under pressure) to organize the banquet for us this year. We agreed to go back to Papa Joe's in the valley and tentative dates of January 9 or 23rd were considered. We have some extra Rudy merchandise, uniforms, and gift certificates that we will raffle off at the banquet. Tricia will help get audio/visual aids for the program. George will announce more details in the future.
Training: Jim Mullins will organize at least two indoor training sessions for this winter. We will try again to get the Falls FOP lodge. If its not available Tom Collier knows of a location and the park lodges were also suggested. Jim also discussed possibly doing some formal training sessions next spring. Last year we didn't do much because of the late snows. Shawn is planning to organize a spring training trip to North Carolina the week of March 6 or March 14, 2004, contact him if you might be interested. Night riding will start after the time change. Doug suggested the rides start at 6:30 this year to make it easier for those who work late to get there. Phil offered to work with anyone who has an interest in developing mountain biking skills.
Race Promotion: Tom agreed to run TOP again next year and it will be essentially the same as 2003. Ted will organize RATL with the help of Dick Lott again. We hope to have registration input to a laptop and have it programmed to automatically provide results. We need a programmer to help with the details. The race order and categories were discussed. Some minor changes in the schedule will be made for 2004. The possibility of doing a state crit was also discussed. As with last year, the sticking point is obtaining a course. Ted expects to talk to Akron city within the next few weeks about a possible course. Anyone who can find and secure a crit course, please let Ted know.
Race Teams: The men's (ADCT) team met in September to review the year and start 2004 planning. They have one possible new recruit for next year and at least two SFW members have the potential to move up to the team next year. Injuries and change of focus hurt the team this year. It appears some team members won't be highly focused on racing again next year for various reasons, so 2004 may be sort of a "maintain" year for the team versus a big growth year. On the other hand, we plan to put more into a women's team for 2004. Catherine has some possible women recruits and there is a good chance we will have a strong women's group.
