Cycling the Dolomites

September 14, 2003 by Antonio

Yesterday was a beautiful day: 130 Km (75 Miles) climbing 3 Dolomite passes with 75 degrees and a wonderful blue sky all day long.

We were three bikers (two kids in the thirties, and an old guy: myself) and a car was more or less following us or waiting on top of the passess giving us fresh water bottles and long sleeve jerseys to put over in order to enjoy better the long descents, which average mileage were around 8–9 miles (Yea a lot of fun, but do not forget that before we had to climb the same distances!)

As a matter of fact I hoped I could make some of these rides with those of you that could take a vacation and visit me..! I'm still hoping; and if this season is slowly going to the final part, may be during the next one some of you will seriously plan to catch a plane and come over here with his bike (and maybe with his wife too..!).

A lot of dear greetings to all of you, and special wish to Denis Osowski for a quick and complete recovery.

Antonio

PS: this is not important, but on the last mountain, the old guy was able to let behind, even if just a couple hundred yards, the two kids... and this made my day even better!
