I just wanted to put a little bit of information on here for everyone to see. First off the sponsorship drive has been going well thanks to the efforts of a few individuals (I'll list the ones I know...Angelo, Ted, Brian, Bryan....I'm sure they are others who have also been working on it and I apologize if you were not listed!!). Most of our sponsors from last year have agreed to return this year and the list of the sponsors should be finalized soon. We managed to add a few new ones too. Second, the recruitment efforts of Team Summit are also finalized. Both of the recruits that we were pursuing have elected to go elsewhere (one returned to the team he raced for in 2002 and the other joined him on that team). We wish them the best of luck in 2003. Team Summit is returning all of its members from last year as well as adding Shawn Adams (Cat.4 racer last year who had gotten his upgrade to Cat.3 at the end of the season). The Team is excited about the upcoming season and are looking forward to racing together as a TEAM. One of the goals of the Team this year is to help develop the Cat4/5 racers to be ready for joining the TEAM when they upgrade. We are after all a developmental racing club. We will be organizing some early season training sessions (as we did last year) to work specifically on racing tactics and skills.
Last but not least is to remind everyone to get or renew their USA Cycling Racing License early. There is nothing worse than not being able to race or having to pay for a one-day license because you just didn't get it done. Speaking of "Get it done!" this has been adopted as Team Summit's motto this year. Last year was a building year for us with many of our members being exposed to TEAM style racing for the first time in their cycling careers. This year is "get it done!!". We are expecting to have some great results this year by building on our efforts from last year and a focused off season. We will also be developing a Team Summit website for keeping everyone updated on the Team's results and training. Until then.....keep riding!
