TOP - Another Great Series

08/30/02 by Ted Ingraham

Last night was the final TOP event for the 2002 season and I know we all want to thank Tom Collier and his many volunteers for the huge amount of work that was put forth to have another very successful TOP Series. In addition to a lot of pre-planning, course preparation, and begging for marshals and volunteers, Tom gives his time to run every TOP race while the rest of us are out enjoying the race! Be sure to express your appreciation to Tom for another job well done!

The progressively larger turnouts for TOP races we had all year is testimony to the success the series has had under Tom's guidance. Last night, the Hale Farm/Riverview race was the largest TOP race the Freewheelers have had in years. It was an exciting race with loads of the best racers from the area. Although the traffic was unusually heavy, the course was well marshaled, the race was well run, and there were no incidents. (It was also great to see three Freewheelers in the top five Jim Mullins first, Angelo in third!) Thanks also to Tom's marshals: Bob Iden, Peter Henriksen, and Becky Blice. THANK YOU TOM!
