The time trial and picnic last night were well attended, well run, and enjoyed by all! Typically hot early August weather provided an extra challenge to the 12 two-man time trial teams that battled up and down Akron Peninsula Road. The Gorman brothers squeaked by Nick and Steve (the renaissance boys) by a couple of seconds to take first.
Nearly everyone, plus a few spouses, stuck around for the picnic. We ride and race together all the time, but it is rare to have an opportunity to just sit and talk to our cycling friends. I want to thank all the people who put in an extra effort to organize everything last night. Tom Collier not only ran the time trial (as he does all the TOP events), but he had his daughter and her friend marshalling, then Tom's wife, Debbie, set-up the picnic and brought food. Thanks to the entire Collier family! Food was also provided by Kurt, Chad Brown, Bob Iden - and others that I missed. Mike Smith saved us by providing the grill. Everyone who enjoyed the evening thanks all of you for helping. Also, I want to thank Mickey Rzymek who provided the "goodie bags" that we all took home.
