Most of you have no idea who I am, but thanks to Ted, you can now see my picture on the web site! Thank you Ted for not using the picture from the back of the room! My name is Becky Blice, I am Nathan Blice's wife. I joined last year as well, but couldn't seem to drag myself away form the kids. I am definitely going to this season! I used to race with Orrville way back in '89, and went to Collegiate Nationals with Miami U. that year as well. I am out of shape and practice, but I'm hoping to make a little comeback .
I had such a nice time at the training. It was good for me to see some familiar faces and made me feel more like a member of the team. Getting my bike fit was long overdue. I had forgotten that I had lent it to my cousin, who is a good 3 inches shorter than me. Sweating a bit was a good thing as well. I am looking forward to racing again!
I wanted to take an opportunity to thank some really great people who gave me an extra hand on the training day, Denis, who lent me his trainer without a second thought when mine was obviously out of service (who ever said chivalry was dead?) and helped adjust my bike seat, and to Bryan, who fit my bike.
It was great to see some people there that I hadn't really met before, but knew their names: Ted, for one, had been an enigma until then, Rick Wood's wife and I had shared a hospital room when our kids were born, but I hadn't really ever met Rick, and Jim Mullins, whose brother and I were friends at Miami University.
If anyone has kids who are around 14 that baby-sit, please let either Nathan or I know, or, better yet, have them give us a call. We will have lots of work for them when April comes, especially on Tuesday & Thursday nights & Saturday mornings. We have three kids that some of you have met at the monthly meetings: Hannah (5), Brian (3), and Sarah (1). We pay very well!
See you all soon!
