Twin Sizzler

By: Ted Ingraham

The annual 4th of July Twin Sizzler race in Medina is always well attended by Freewheelers and this year was no exception! I can think of at least 15 members who raced, but I know we had more than that at the team picture after the race. It was great seeing all the bright red/yellow Freewheeler colors, but even better—we had some great results!

I believe eight members placed in the medals. Dave Cockley was the big winner, placing first in the 18–34 elite race by beating a number of other top racers. Another big first was Angelo Catalano winning his age category. Angelo is a new racer who we’ve watched progress all season long. That was his first win—but it won’t be his last! Other significant firsts were Beth Large and Cathy Bedell doing their first ever races—and both winning medals! Including Beth and Cathy, we had five women in the race. (Although they were not all wearing the team jersey!) Congratulations to everyone, and thanks for making the club look so good! (Also, thanks to those who came out for the picture!)
